The Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resources Management has named 80 companies to the 2017 Best Places to Work in Maine list. The 80 winners, split into different size categories (small, medium, and large employers), will be revealed in ranked order at an awards celebration on Oct. 10 and listed in the special awards publication, produced by Mainebiz.

A sponsor of the annual “Best Places” program again this year, KMA is pleased to be part of honoring these companies on the finalist list who have shown best practices in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations, employee relations and engagement, hiring and retention practices, and various other aspects of their HR and organizational development needs. CONGRATULATIONS!

All companies who participate in the Best Places to Work in Maine program should be commended as well. Many use the process to help them make improvements in their workplace culture, and as a benchmark for how they are doing compared to their peers.

Being considered a “best place to work” is important because premier employers are better able to attract and retain top talent; their employees tend to be more engaged, satisfied, and productive; and consumers react more positively to companies with excellent reputations.

The 12th annual program recognizes companies that have established and consistently fostered outstanding workplace environments. The organization that manages the program, Best Companies Group, gathered information from all registered organizations including employee benefits, workplace policies and employee responses to a comprehensive satisfaction survey.

The program is part of a long-term initiative to encourage growth and excellence throughout all Maine companies.
