Governor LePage has signed into law An Act to Restore the Tip Credit to Maine’s Minimum Wage Law. This repeals the requirement for annual increases in the minimum cash wage required to be paid to tipped workers set forth in the minimum wage guidelines that took effect in January.

Under this act, the tip credit may be up to 50% of the minimum hourly wage except for 2017 when the minimum cash wage may not be less than $5.00 per hour.

See the following link for the text of this act which includes requirements which did not change, for communicating tips credits to employees, paying the equivalent of minimum wage to employees including tips, and other tip payment information.
